Frequently asked questions
Do voice recordings count as personal data under DPDP?
Yes. Any recording where a person can be identified is personal data. You must provide a notice and get consent before the recording begins, typically via an IVR prompt.
What happens if our clients are located outside of India?
If you process personal data within India, you must comply with DPDP. You will likely act as a Data Processor for your international client, who remains the Data Fiduciary.
Can we use old recordings for agent training?
Only if the original consent included training as a purpose. If not, you must anonymize the recordings or delete them once the primary service goal is met.
